I first discovered Richard Kern when his book New York Girls came out in 1999. That book turned out to be the leading edge of the wave of "alt erotica" that eventually evolved into things like the Suicide Girls, and all the other contemporary imitators. Now Vice Magazine has contacted me to tell me about their on-going video series "Shot By Kern" in which they interview Kern's models about their work with occasional commentary by the photographer. While the interview questions (and the camera work) lean towards the salacious, it's interesting to hear the model's point of view for a change.
