xupacabras

Hi Everyone. As regular readers will have noticed, I'm taking a much needed blogging break. After over two years of never missing more than a few days between posts, I just need a rest. However, you can all take heart because I have just discovered that my own personal favourite photo blogger is back in the game after a several month long hiatus. So for another few days, while I kick back and work in the darkroom producing my own work, rather than blogging about other people's, redirect your browsers to the excellent Xupacabras blog for your photo fix.

That link again is Xupacabras

The Francesca Woodman Gallery

I was happy to find this good sized gallery of work by the tragically short-lived
Francesca Woodman.

Here's a good Biography of this artist if you want to know more.

Interesting photomanipulations by Teresa Flowers. I particularly like the strange symmetry of the Landscape Nudes. I just wish the pictures were bigger.

Douglas Kirkland

Noted Hollywood photographer and fellow Canadian, Douglas Kirkland has a small but interesting nudes section on his website along with an incredible portfolio of celebrity portraiture.

Here's the website of Spanish photographer Rafael Roa. In addition to fine art nudes, his work ranges from fashion to celebrity portraiture. Well worth the visit.

Some beautifully subtle work by Californian photographer Eric Alan Pritchard.

I've added a new link in the "For Photographers" section of the permanent links area. It's the Nude in Art History an online collection of 625 masterpieces of the nude in paintings, sculpture and photography. I think it's a great reference if you are looking for inspiration for poses or themes.

Haleh Bryan

Not a personal website, but the work of someone on a photo site. Haleh B's work uses manipulation, but nothing hides the underlying beauty of her work. Or the beauty of her models.

Regular readers know I love work that pushes the boundaries of traditional printing, and photography, so I was very happy to find this great work by Michael McCarthy.

"My work in photography, although very diverse, tends to circle around the question of perception. I photograph with a range of different cameras--standard 35 mm SLRs, pinhole cameras, plastic, toy cameras, I use black and white, color and also alternative photo processes like cyanotype, gum bichromate and liquid light. In the end, all these various projects are concerned with the question of how we see and perceive the world."
