Happy Holidays from Art Nudes

Hi all,

I'm taking a little time off from blogging to eat too much and visit with friends and family for the holidays.  I'll resume posting just after the new year.

In the meantime, here's a special seasonal post for you all.  Since this is the "season of giving", you may be interested in this list of secular charities.  These organizations do great work without any proselytizing.  I encourage you to support them.

Tomek Jankowski

Exceptional work ranging from gorgeous fashion and beauty work to the visceral and surreal "Tissue" series, by Polish photographer Tomek Jankowski.

Alberto Bevacqua

Here's an unusual combination of artistic disciplines that end up working well together. California based furniture and steel fabricator/photographer Alberto Bevacqua utilizes his skill with metal to create strange body ornaments for his models. Interesting stuff.

Japanese photographer Mitsuo Suzuki wrote in to let us know that he's just updated his website with a new series entitled "Corset". Go pay him a visit and check it out!

THE RAW FILES: The Making of a Photograph (Mac)

Mclain Swift just posted an interesting "making of" tutorial for the image above over at the RAW FILES blog. While it's a simple lighting set up, this is a good introduction to the setup process, lighting basics, and post-production.

In other news, I'd also like to thank Mclain for taking on the role of moderator over at the Art Nudes Forum. He'll be taking care of cleaning out the spam posts when I'm too busy or just not paying attention. Thanks Mac!

i.m. ruzz

Calgary based photographer, writer, film-maker and all round interesting guy i.m. ruzz.

The writing that accompanies his photographs brings a whole new dimension that I found really engaging.

Remi Rebillard

French born, New York based, fashion and editorial photographer Remi Rebillard wrote in to share his work with us.

A warning for the faint of heart, or early morning risers like me, if you choose to watch the flash intro to his website, you may want to turn down your volume!

Marc Dubord

Heavily textured, distressed and worked over images by photographer Marc Dubord. Not everyone's cup of tea perhaps, but this photographer is consistent in his approach and his images are bizarrely creative.

Jim Linderman

Vintage photo collector and writer Jim Linderman has just published a couple of books that might make nice gifts for someone on your list this year.

The first is his illustrated essay on vernacular erotic photography from his blog of the same name:

Shy Shamed Secret Shadowed Hidden

The second is a reprinting of a marvelous old scrapbook of "racy" clippings found in the trash over 50 years ago.

Eric Kellerman - Jannis Brevet

Art Nudes' own resident curmudgeon Eric Kellerman has gone from photographing the nude to photographing the food!

Eric's latest project is the photography for a new cookbook from one of the Netherlands' top restaurants. Although this is slightly off topic from our standard fare around here, I wanted to share our old friend's latest accomplishment. It looks beautiful, great job Eric!
