Michael Barnes Photography

I've finally updated my own website with a few new images in both the portrait and figure galleries. Please check it out.

Ron Chez | Photographer

Ron Skei, or to refer to him by his nom d'arte, Ron Chez, is one of the few photographers I've featured here that I've actually had the pleasure of sitting down and having a beer with. Not only is he a fundamentally decent guy, he's also a fine photographer.

QuaeVide Photography

Sorry for the lack of posts this week. Blogger has been flaky the last couple times I've tried to put something up. So, let's get back in the saddle with work by Quae Vide.

Strobist

Photographica

I just discovered an awesome photoblog that I know I'll be refering to regularly. It's called Strobist and it dedicated to all things related to off camera flashes, with a special emphasis on do it yourself projects such as the awesome and incredibly simple DIY Grid Spot illustrated above.

"For the last year, Completely Naked has been inviting selected photographers around the world to submit images in the online galleries that, according to them, portray intimacy.

All these photographers have in common a new approach to photography and how they look around themselves and at their intimacy, becoming somehow part of an un-scripted movement."

Vintage Pulchritude

The Vintage Pulchritude blog not only has a great name, but looks to be a terrific source for classic nude photography.

Patrick Alt large format platinum photography

American photographer Patrick Alt uses large format and ultra large format 18” X 22” mammoth plate cameras to produce silver and platinum print nudes. It's frustrating seeing them in such low rez webformat, I bet this prints are incredible in real life.

Jordan Matter

Discussion Point

I honestly don't know what to make of New York photographer Jordan Matter's series "Uncovered". He's a pro, and the images have technical merit. He also has a stated political agenda and has received national press coverage, but... is it art or the perfect meeting of exhibitionists and voyeur? Please feel free to comment.

The SimCam: Film and Digital Camera Simulator - Photonhead.com

Photographica

Here's a great link for anyone who's ever spent time trying to explain f-stops, shutter speed and ISO to a non-photographer. This "virtual camera" demonstrates the variables and how a scene will look with different settings. I wish my mother-in-law had a computer so I could send her this link. Of course, then I'd have to teach her to use a computer...

nad-iksodas

I know it was only a few weeks ago I posted an interview with long time friend of this blog Nad Isodas, but I just acquired two of his limited edition prints yesterday and I love them, so I'm happy to give him some more publicity. I got the photo above, and one more of the same model. They're going to look good on my wall, thanks Dan! err.. I mean Nad.

Professional photographer and Photoshop virtuoso James Porto is one of the few people out there who can make women with wings not look cliche. A word to the rest of you, unless you are this good, please put the halloween angel wings you have in your studio on your kids, not your models.
