Vacation!

Vacation Time

Well gentle readers, I'm off to Cabos San Lucas with a buddy in a few days for a week of drinking and soaking up the sun.

Allowing for readjustment to the Canadian winter, I imagine the blog will be on hiatus until the second week of February.

I'll see you all in a couple weeks.

Hasta Luego!

Speaking of photographer's blogs, since I own a couple of his photos of the above model, Nad Iksodas dropped me a note to tell me he'd posted some new images of her.

JJ Andre

I was talking with JJ Andre earlier this week and he told me that he has just completely revamped his website with a new design, lots of new photos, and an exhaustive, illustrated, decade by decade analysis of his work over the past 50 years. Talk about a career in photographing the nude!

Unfortunately, since the site is in Russian, I can't tell you much about photographer Yan McLine except that his work is well worth a look.

Help a fellow reader out

Mystery Book

Here's your chance to help a fellow Art Nudes reader out. I received the following email the other day, and I don't have an answer to her question. Is this ringing any bells for any one?

"maybe you could help me out. I'm looking for a book of photography that i found about 5 years ago, or so. i thought it was a french photographer, but i may be wrong about his nationality. He published an entire book of his wife, mostly nude. I remember the photos, but i cannot seem to find this anywhere (or remember the exact title).

If you have any idea, please send me an email!
Thank you,

Harmonie"

**UPDATE**

OK everyone, I've heard back from Harmonie. She read through the comments and although it isn't his book Luba, the name Petter Hegre rang a bell for her and she found out that he did publish a book entitled My Wife, of pictures a woman who I can only assume was the pre-Luba Mrs. Hegre. This was the one she was looking for!

Thanks to all of you for wracking your brains, and especially to the anonymous poster who mentioned Hegre.

Digital Sessions

Brooks Ayola is a professional photographer from California who has been a long time friend of this blog. While he doesn't post a lot of his nudes to his photoblog, he does post a broad range of his incredible work, and generously explains his lighting and techical information for each one. If you are looking to improve your work, I can't think of a better person to rip off... er, I mean learn from!

Interview with Michael

I was very honoured recently to be asked for an interview by the online magazine Contemporary Art Gallery to discuss my work as a photographer and as a blogger.

The interview just went online today. So if you're curious about me, or some of the thinking behind this site, check it out here.

Call for Submissions

If any of you are looking for an opportunity to submit for an interesting sounding project, I recently received the following note from Kim Taylor, editor of 180 Magazine:

"I'd like to extend an invitation to you and your photographer blog
readers to submit their photographic comments on the topic of "Nude / Naked".

We would like two photographs from each photographer, one
illustrating each word in the topic, and a paragraph explaining their
position.

Many thanks and best wishes for a happy new year from 180 magazine."

*UPDATE*

Thanks to some detective work and some rather frightening manipulation of the template coding, I've managed to get the archives links back!

Thanks to you all of you who wrote with your suggestions. Your willingness to help was a real encouragment!

Michael

Well, I've discovered the hard way that there is a downside to the new Blogger. Apparently a side-effect of the change over is the disappearance of 3 years worth of archived links!!!

I can still access the links via the administrative features of the blog, so they aren't gone completely, I just can't get them to reappear on the main page so all of you can see them.

Also, of interest to other bloggers only, the "BlogThis" shortcut doesn't work in the new Blogger. A major pain in the ass for regular posters like me.

I'll keep you all updated on development. If any of you know an answer to the invisible archives problem, PLEASE write me and let me know.

Happy 2007!

Happy 2007!

Hello Everyone. Welcome to a new year. I want to announce that Google has implemented a new version of Blogger that I've switched over to this morning. There are a few new features I'll be trying out, but hopefully it will be a largely invisible change for you readers.

One feature I'll be experimenting with is post labels, so you'll see new links below the posts which catergorize the posts. The labels will only apply to posts from 2007 forward though. There's just no way I'm going back and retrojigging 1000+ posts!

My biggest concern was losing all the comments, but they seem to have remained intact. If you notice any problems, please leave them in the comments or email me directly.
