Big month in Reader Publications

Wow, this has been a big month for Art Nudes readers getting their work out in print. With the holidays just around the corner, these all seem like pretty cool gift ideas for the photography enthusiast in your life, even if it means buying them for yourself!

Steve Richard's awesome "Cloud Busting" series is now available in book form. The book was printed at Zanardi Press in Italy and will be in normal book store distribution early 2011 (being distributed through University of New Mexico Press). In the meantime, it is now available for sale on directly through Steve's site.

f - eleven

I was excited to hear about F-eleven a new book that is being published via Blurb. This looks like a really excellent collection of some of the luminaries of the contemporary nude photography scene, including several friends and favourites of this blog.

As if getting a book with this much great content wasn't enough, proceeds from the sale of the book will be donated to Friends Without a Border a charity committed to improving the health and well being of the children of Cambodia by providing quality medical care, extensive outreach and crucial medical education through Angkor Hospital for Children.

Check out this link for ordering information and an extensive preview of the book's contents.

Obsession Art

I seldom, if ever, post a link to a "commercial" site, but I'll make an exception in the case of Obsession Art. This is a UK based website that specializes in nude photography printed to order and shipped worldwide (for a surprisingly reasonable cost). It's a very user friendly site, and I recognize the names of a number of artists that I've featured here over the years, all of whom I assume get a commission from sales. They also provide good quality preview images without obnoxious watermarking, so even if you just want to go browse, there's lots to see.

Nuexpo.com - Entretiens et portfolios de photographes et modles - Nu artistique

I recently discovered Nuexpo.com, a French online magazine that features portfolios and interviews with photographers and models who specialize in fine art nudes. It seems to be a high quality sight, and you certainly don't need to read French to be able to appreciate all the photography.

Artbreak:

This new site looks like it could have some potential. I'm always happy to see sites that provide free exposure for artists. This one appears to be a hybrid of several different popular web galleries, critique sites and social network sites. He's the description from the email I received from the creator.

I've built a community site called Artbreak for artists to share and sell their work. It's free to sign up and to share your work on the site. If you sell your work, there is a 7.5% commission, other than that there are no fees or charges. I'd like to invite you to come check it out, and if you like it to show some of your work there.

You can think of it as a free web portfolio of your work, but it's really a social site: People can leave compliments for artists, send messages, add friends, and vote for their favorite art. It's just getting off the ground, and already an incredible community of artists from all over the world is really coming together on the site. The feedback of the early adopters is shaping Artbreak's direction and personality, so if you do check it out, please send any feedback or ideas my way.

Carrie Leigh's NUDE MAGAZINE

Photographer and long time reader Dave Rudin wrote in to tell me about a brand new magazine that has just his the shelves for the first time. The premier issue has an 8 page feature on Dave's work. Way to go Dave!

The magazine looks like it features quality work and interesting articles. I wish it every success, and I hope I can find it in my local shops. If any one wants to buy me an early X-mas present, I'll take a year's subscription!

Even more importantly though, the magazine has an open call for submissions via their website. We all know that print exposure can be hard to come by, so this is an excellent opportunity.

nude-hall

Nude Hall is a group exhibit of what seems to be primarily Turkish photographers. Now it is an interesting question to me after looking through these, is there a Turkish style that is prone to closeups and extremely grainy images or is it just a preference of whomever compiled this grouping...?

onexposure.net - where photographers meet

Ralf, webmaster of Onexposure.net wrote in to introduce me to his site. It's a Sweden based photography forum where you can join and share your work with other photographers and the world. The difference here from other similar sites is that photos undergo a screening process in order to be posted, so the image quality level is quite good. Check it out!
