Gallery Graham -

Graham Wallis is yet another talented photographer who reads this blog. Using both traditional and digital mediums, he produces a broad range of images. He lives in Jakarta, Indonesia.

While his web host prevents me from linking to an image of his, trust me that it's worth your while to visit his site which contains 8 galleries of figure photography in various styles & techniques.

Fine Art Male Nude Photography. Artistic Male Nudes.

It's relatively rare to find really good quality male nudes, so it's always a pleasure to find a photographer like Dylan Ricci. His subtle and delicate lighting gives his images a distinctive style, not to mention his models who are all built like Greek gods. Wonderful stuff.

John Bolgiano - Photography - Just a Little Different

Here's the website of John Bolgiano, alt-process specialist and the man who found that Annie Brigman link for me. While figure photography makes up a relatively small percentage of his overall body of work, I love the look of all the various techniques he uses.

I was pleased to receive an email from photographer and fellow blogger Philip Cartland letting me know that after a brief hiatus, his African Aperture site is back up and running. While this site doesn't fall within the parameters I normally blog, Philip's such a talented guy and so devoted to promoting photography, I'm definitely pleased to make an exception for him.

This site's stated objective is: "To bring photography of Africa and in Africa into the world through digital media. To bring together the very best photographers who focus on Africa. And, ultimately, to grow into a sustainable entity in the internet environment."

Check it out!

Marco Tenaglia Fine Art Photography

Weight Lift 5

Well, my request for photographer's who read this blog to submit their websites resulted in a few emails. One of those who wrote was Ludovic Goubet. His email contains very little personal information about him, so I can't tell you much. The photo I selected isn't really representative of the majority of his work but it was so strange I couldn't resist choosing it.

Also, Marco Tenaglia wrote to tell me that he's updated his webpage with new work and toned down the flash intro a bit too. Be sure and go check it out.

As for the rest of you, the invitation stands. Write me and tell me the address of your site. I want to feature the work of my readers, but here's a hint... butter me up a bit. Buy me dinner and a movie before expecting me to promote your site, or at least write a couple of lines of "Hey, I like your blog" or something. Submissions with just a URL and nothing else make me feel cheap.

Although technically the work doesn't knock me out, I have to admire the cool human geometries of Georg Gasz's "Blossoms" series.

It's time at long last for another reader profile. Cristen Gallegos wrote to direct me to her new website which features portaits and nudes of Goth subculture models. She is based in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

I'm always interested in posting links to the work of photographers who visit this blog, regardless of experience level, as long as it features figurative work. If you'd like your page featured, send me an email.

CONTACT Toronto Photography Festival

Well I'm back from a really enjoyable visit to Ontario. While I was only in Toronto a short while, I was delighted to find that my visit coincided with the eighth annual CONTACT Toronto Photography Festival. This photo festival features more than 400 photographers in over 170 exhibitions spread all across town. I was only able to take in a fraction of them but I was impressed with the diversity & quality of work that I did see. If you have a chance to visit Toronto before the end of the month, be sure a take in a few exhibits.

Thanks to reader Rex for tipping me off to this.

Well, I'm on the road again. This time traveling back to my ancestral homeland (Ontario, Canada) to visit my Mom for Mother's Day. So, this is the last post for a least a week until I return. In the meantime, I leave you with the fine work of Romania photographer, Mirela Bratu.

Sensuality and the Nude in Memorial Art - Northstar Gallery

For those of you that like a little art historical context with your nude art, here's an interesting photo essay by photographer Dennis Felty, entitled "Sensuality and the Nude in Memorial Art".

"For several years I have been photographing memorial and cemetery art from around the world. This project explores the conscious and unconscious themes and symbolic content of the art. At issue is of course man's struggle with transcendence and his own mortality. As the project progressed, I began to discover many very sensual images of beautiful young women depicted in the memorial art in the cemeteries I was visiting."

Frank Horvat * Very Similar

"It is natural, for a photographer, to want to share his visual pleasure with others, in particular with those who brought it about. This is the first motivation for these portraits. The second stems from questions I have asked myself for a long time, about the gap between the partiality of my glance and the present canons of female beauty."
