Art Nudes

Michael encouraged me to indulge in some shameless self-promotion, so I will. I've just updated my website.
And some photos of mine have just appeared in a book called 'The Body' (ISBN 3-89985-308-3), while Art-Photo-Akt magazine will be doing features on Emil Schildt and myself in the September 2005 issue.

STIGMATA ? Philippe Br?son

Although I'm ambivalent towards the whole bondage theme, I do like the heavy physical manipulation Philippe Breson brings to the printmaking process.

(By the way, the fact that I chose to post a series called Stigmata on Easter is strictly coincidental.)

Photographie Noir et Blanc - Alexandre MALLER

I got a nice note from French photographer Alexandre Maller letting me know he has a new website address. Check it out and update your bookmarks.

Photography-now.com | International

I've added a new link to the miscellaneous photography links section. The Photography Now website is a great resource for photo exhibitions and events at major galleries around the world.

Shigeyuki Kihara

Born of Japanese & Samoan parents, Shigeyuki Kihara references early Colonial "exotic" photography in her exhibit "Fa’a Fafine (In a Manner of a Woman)" by portraying herself in various stereotypical 19th century Polynesian poses.

Bordello - Vee Speers

Vee Speers "Bordello" series is reminiscent of Ellen Von Unwerth's work but in my opinion, Speers' photos are better.

Nu

Here's a Russian photography forum with over 400 pages of Nudes. Considering it's a public forum rather than a curated gallery, there is a fair amount of mediocre work and cheesy glamour. However, there are also a surprising number of gems hidden amongst these pages too. Consider it a Sunday treasure hunt.

House of Frames

I want to break with tradition here and post a photo link without any nudes. My friend Antonio Bogaert has a new exhibition of his sepia toned New Zealand landscape photographs and the gallery has put them online. They are simply gorgeous. I encourage you all to check out this link and see these beautiful images.

Juergen Specht - Photographs - Galleries

Juergen Specht is a German photographer living and working in Tokyo.

Is he a great photographer? In my opinion, not really.

Is he a brilliant artist? I'll leave that up to personal opinion.

Does he have the most entertaining website I've seen for a long time? Yes! I haven't spent as much time reading and exploring a website for ages. He has no less than 91 galleries, each with a description of the idea behind the shoot and usually some anecdotes about what happened. On top of that he's got his True Stories section where he documents various adventures such as a photographer's search for the perfect light. There's also the Documentations section for glimpses into life in Japan.

Maybe not to all tastes, but I sure enjoyed the visit.
