He contacted my several months ago about linking to his sites, but although we had a very cordial correspondence, I had to decline due to my policy against paysites. Well, I'm back. Sorry it took so long. I spent two weeks languishing on a beach in sunny Mexico drinking many mojitos and cervezas and then when I got home I was enjoying the blogging break so much that I extended my mental vacation.

Anyway, I'm back for the time being and will start off with this introductory level video with a very self explanatory title. Advanced shooters won't get anything from this, but people interested getting started my find it helpful.

I've long been a fan of Japanese photographer Takaci Hirano's serial documentary style, so I was very pleased when he wrote to let me know he'd updated his website with some new images. If you're unfamiliar with his work, he creates series of images of his models in all sorts of daily life situations ranging from the common place to the extremely private. The result is a look into these women's lives that is intimate to a degree I don't think I've ever seen elsewhere.

I don't do politics and censorship much here, mainly because I know it's an exercise in frustration, but I swear, when I read a story like this I begin to despair for the future. A shopping mall store was raided and the manager cited with obscenity charges for displaying the photo above, and one other. The other image is of a woman who is topless and whose "breast is displayed with her hand covering just the nipple portion".

Doesn't anyone living in the United States NOT see that they are doing exactly what the Taleban would have done ? What makes me sadder/angrier are some of the comments praising the decision to get rid of this "sick porn", etc. What the hell is so offensive about the human body ? (Stops writing before a curse filled rant ensues)
