Gallery

I first saw Anderson & Low's, Nude Studies of the Danish National Gymnastic Team, in Black & White Photography magazine about a year ago and have been half looking for a web link to it since then. Luckily, the webmaster of xupacabras.weblog found it for me and has submitted it as his entry into the 1st anniversary contest.

The photography of William Ropp: '...and darkness was upon the face of the deep'

Although I've featured the haunting photos of William Ropp before, this new gallery features dozens of photographs with written descriptions which offer some insight into these potent images. If you've never seen this artist's work before, you're in for a ride that is equal parts beauty and nightmare.

Thanks for the link suggestion Stefan!

I've added a couple of new entrys into the permanent Misc. Photography Links section. Both are fantastic photo blogs, which are very similar to this one, except they are in Portuguese and both are run by the same blogger. While these should be of interest to all, my Brazilian & Portuguese visitors should particularly enjoy these.

Shadow Book

This link is a little unusual in that rather that featuring one photographer, it features one very talented model by the name of Myrrh Hamilton. She has worked with some superb photographers with a wide range of styles, and her online portfolio is a great showcase for both her and the photographers.

Shadow Book

Myrrh submitted this link as her submission into the 1st anniversary contest, and it certainly qualifies. As for the rest of you, there's still time to enter, so send me those links.

Kunstner - Tune Andersen

Danish photographer and member of the exclusive Art Nudes permanent links club, Tune Anderson, wrote to tell me about another website featuring some of his work.

You can visit it here:

Also, don't forget to visit his main website for more of his uniquely stylish photos.

Galeria aktu Andrzeja Zatwarnickiego - Art fine nude photography by Andrzej Zatwarnicki

Andrzej Zatwarnicki wrote to invite us all to visit his web gallery, and I'm very glad he did. His dyptychs using the same model in different positions on the same background are intriguing.

Go check it out here:

Voelker Studio - Nudes

Professional photographer Christopher Voelker creates wonderfully dramatic and creative imagery. He cites famous Hollywood photographer George Hurrell as an influence, and it shows.

Torero - Photographs by Ruven Afanador

Eduardo Gallo Espinosa
"El Gallo"
Salamanca, Spain
2001
Gelatin silver print

In his incredilbe series "TORERO: Matadors from Colombia, Mexico, Perú, and Spain" photographer Ruven Afanador turns the notion of Matadors as the ultimate symbols of machismo on it's head. Instead, these lithe and athletic figures become feminised and sexualised in some truly surprising and inspired photographs.

Remember, if you had submitted this link, you would have been eligible to enter the one year anniversary contest. (See below)

Anniversary Contest!

Maria,
Michael Barnes, 2003

Attention! Believe it or not, on February 15th, this blog will be 365 days old. To celebrate this one year anniversary I've decided to have a contest!

This is your chance to win an original hand-printed fine art print of the above image by me, your blog host. The photo is printed on 11" x 14" Ilford warm tone fibre-based paper, stamped with my studio stamp and signed. In the gallery that represents me, this print sells unframed for $150.00.

It's not just a random draw though, I'm going to make you work for it. Here's what you have to do. To qualify, you must send me a link suggestion for a site to use on this blog. To qualify, sites obviously need to feature fine art nude photography. No glamour or porn sites allowed. Most importantly though, the link must never have been featured on this blog before. This is probably trickier than you think, as I've featured hundreds of sites over this past year. So be prepared to dive into the archive to do some research before you enter.

I will randomly select one name from the qualified entries and make the announcement on Feb. 29. Multiple entries are permitted provided each link is different. Please do not send attachments.

To email me your entry Click here!

Well at long last it's time to feature another of one of the talented photographers who visit this site. This time it's Torben Raun, who lives and works in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Thanks for writing Torben!

David Moore

"The work in this exhibit represents selections from two bodies of work: Ephemeral Beings and A Dark Eros.

Ephemeral Beings deals with the transient, evanescent nature of our physical existence while A Dark Eros explores eroticism and sensuality."

Indie Nudes

It's time to give a big thanks to the site that is easily my biggest referrer. Indie Nudes features hundreds of links to an extremely eclectic mix of fine art, photography and alternative pornography and all without obtrusive banner ads, popups and the other usual internet irritants.

John Baker

Torso,
Bromoil print

"My art, it's what I do; it's what I love to do. I am an artist, I've always been an artist, although there were times I didn't know it. It comes from deep inside of me; it's ingrained in my subconscious and shows itself when it wants to.

I am a guy; I see the world through the eyes of an idiot."

John Baker-Excerpt from artist's bio.

I've always loved the look of well done alt-process photos and the work of John Baker certainly fits the bill. His web site features beautiful bromoil and carbro prints as well as traditional black and white and hand coloured.

Eric Kellerman wrote to tell me that Jim Riegel (see two posts down) has a book that has just come out with Adnax Publishing (England) **Link now fixed!**

The Adnax site is well worth a look, as there are several talented photographers represented by this publishing house, including Eric himself.

The Website of Photographic Artist Darren Holmes

Darren Holmes create images that are beautiful, moody and textural, and he's not afraid to cross some of the traditional lines of figure photography. Wonderful stuff.

Jim Riegel Photography Pages

Melon Hostage

U.S. photographer Jim Riegel's photographs are enviably eccentric. Some are outright humorous, others border on the disturbing, but very few are boring.
