Konstantin Korneshov's handcoloured black and white photos have a vintage, strongly "Russian" feel that to my mind evokes imaginings of the secret decandence of the Czars. Great stuff.

Exposed: The Victorian Nude - Haus der Kunst - Absolutearts.com

Here's an interesting essay on the changing attitudes regarding art depicting the figure during the Victoria period.

"Every naturalistic representation of the naked body was considered during the Victorian era (1837–1901) as morally dangerous. "

Ernesto Timor (Trompe-la-mort : photos & fantasies)

"I've been living quite a long time in a kind of photo booth. There was no room for modesty in there! What did we expect from those quick poses? Maybe that my pretty visitors would lay bare rather than plainly nude. Rediscovering those badly fixed prints today, I smell in them acid ingenuousness which nearly makes me fall in love again!"

From "Small Studio Days"

Photographer Ernesto Timor's web site Trompe-la-mort (which roughly translated I believe means "Trick Death" or "Fool Death") is full of beautiful photographs with some very interesting writing accompanying each series. Be sure to click "Site Map" to see the list of all the galleries. I counted 38 of them and they all contain photos that are worth your time to look at.

Mascarade 07
Itzhak Ben Arieh, 1993

While I've never been a big fan of photomontage, Israel photographer Itzhak Ben Arieh is a master of the technique. His work is well worth a look.

It's time for another Art Nudes reader profile. This time from Dutch amateur photographer Rene Knip. Rene sent me this link to his new web page featuring his photography. I love his bio, mainly because it could describe me. (except for the bits about Holland, children and dogs...)

Mallikuva

Some nice simple and subtle work by Finnish photographer Mallikuva.

Ken Lichtenwalter's work is more overtly erotic than I normally post here, but he's a damn good photographer. Here is his "In the Dark" portfolio.

Here is a very cool downloadable interactive fine art nude calendar. For each month you can switch back and forth between the photographs of Harri Peccinotti and the drawings of artist Mode 2 (Yes, that's his name) The calendar even allows you to add appointments.

Here it is! the Calendar (Site requires flash)

A big hats off to regular contributor Leann from Indigoblog for this great link.

Here's a great big list of photography & modeling forums. Most are frankly no good and pander mainly to the glamour and porn industries, but if you dig deep enough occassionally you come across something worthwhile. For me, the forums have provided some good leads for models in my region and also provided some good solid technical advice.

Todd Gary Essick

"...In introducing the form of the nude female to the ocean I use this to represent our innate desires to connect with our mother the ocean and dance and explore with our distant ancestors, who still inhabit our first home. I want to share this dream of the ocean with those who have ever felt that longing for a reunion and a desire to touch our past, present and future. My hope is to awaken the sense of union and belonging and if we will work to preserve this world below and above the waves than we have truly made the connection."

If Todd Essicks photos only showed marine life they'd still be impressive. The fact that he's managed to successfully integrate models into what is essentially nature photography is exceptional.

The incredibly talented Alessandro Bavari does photography, animation and illustration. His Sodom & Gomorrah series reminds me of the paintings of Hieronymous Bosch, which in my books is a very good thing.

"... And, naturally, elements of satire or post-"Pop"ulist deconstructivism are never far from the surface of Newton's work. Like, for instance, the photographer's parody of America's buxom, bikini-clad Rigid Tools bimbos, with a leering Aryan wench wielding a wickedly functional Bauwelt hedge-trimmer like an implement of totalitarian Teutonic torture."

OK, I'll admit I'm not really sure what's going on with this one. This site documents the lives of a young Japanese couple in their cramped and messy apartment. The photos are of their most intimate moments and their most mundane. Furthermore, most photos link to pages with even more photos and various other surprises. It is a dense and mysterious site. It may just be because I can't read the text that I think that it's strangely compelling and poetic, but I think it's more than that. The photos while amateurish and technically bad have a charm that can't be denied.

Here is the site

Be sure to explore the Art Nudes archives, there has been literally hundreds of great photographers featured here over the past 7 months. The archives are now organized by month rather than week. It cleans up the clutter a bit and makes it more managable. The links are on the lower left.

Enjoy!

"Women Running Naked is a project that involves a healthy dose of exhibition, a certain amount of innocent sexuality and twenty-four frames from a single roll of film. Each and every frame from a run is shown in succession without edit. The outright laughter, the passers-by, the shake, the jiggle and the unpredictable nature of the process is shown in totality for each shoot. Each run goes rather quickly since the entire piece is shot with an auto winder while I run close behind or slightly ahead of the subject. It is very spontaneous except for a simple walk-thru to make sure we do not run somewhere we shouldn't. Although, I have nearly killed myself running through an abandoned building while screaming, "Don't stop! Keep going!" as I headed towards the ground after tripping on some bits of wood."
